Known as the temple of 'Ten Thousand Buddhas', Kek Lok Si Temple is one of the largest and most beautiful Buddhist temples in South East Asia. It is suspended above a hillslope, this unique seven-tier pagoda is a blend of Chinese, Thai and Burmese architecture and craftsmanship. Two not to be missed attractions are the 30-metre tall bronze statue of the Goddess of Mercy (Kuan Yin) and the unique and sacred ‘Pond of Longevity’ which is home to hundreds of tortoises set free by devotees. Tortoises are believed to be a symbol of longevity, strength and endurance in the Chinese culture.

Ascend the Penang Hill or Bukit Bendera via the funicular train up to 800 metres above sea level to escape the heat and enjoy the magnificent panoramic views of Georgetown and part of the mainland. Along the way, visitors can appreciated the varied flora and and maybe catch a glimpse of the elusive fauna. Penang Hill is Malaysia's oldest hill station and a place where people escaped to to seek respite from the lowland heat and humidity.
