The capital city of Penang, Georgetown was named after King George III of England. Take a drive through historical Georgetown visiting amongst others sites, the most prominent buildings of the colonial era that are now protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stop at Fort Cornwallis that once belonged to the English East India Company and where Captain Francis Light first landed in 1786. Next, visit the State Museum, built in 1821 and which showcases a fine collection of antiques as well as other historical relics that showcase Penang's culture and heritage.

Enjoy an authentic trishaw ride through the heart of Georgetown and be fascinated by its charming colonial architecture, the modern skyscrapers of bustling Chinatown and all the colour of Little India. Stop at one of the most magnificent clan houses, Khoo Kong Si. The building features intricate carvings and woodwork bearing the mark of master craftsmen from China. Lastly, visit the majestic Thai Buddhist Temple, Wat Chayamangkalaram, which houses one of the world's largest reclining Buddhas at 33 metres. This gold-plated reclining statue has long fascinated foreign tourists.
