Take a 15-minute nostalgic ferry ride from Penang across the north channel of the Straits of Malacca to Butterworth. Your tour starts with a visit to the Penang Bird Park, the first and the largest of its kind in Malaysia. Established in 1988, the 2-hectare park has more than 300 species of birds from all over the world, of which more than 150 species are species native to Malaysia.

Next on the list is the Orang Utan Island, a 2-hectare rehabilitation and conservation centre where Orang Utans roam freely. A 10-minute boat ride will bring you to the Island that serves as a breeding sanctuary as well as a conservation, research and education centre for the better understanding of this endangered species. After the tour, return to Penang using the Penang Bridge, one of the world's longest bridges which links Penang Island to the mainland. The 13.5 km (8.4 miles) bridge was officially opened in 1985.
