ANNAPURNA REGION - GENERAL INFORMATION
North of Pokhara, Nepal’s spectacular diversity appears at its finest. The deep valleys and high mountains encircling the giant Annapurna Himal (mountain) embrace a wide range of peoples and terrain, from subtropical jungle to a high, dry landscape resembling the Tibetan plateau. This is the most popular trekking region. It is also among the tamest areas with excellent lodges lining the main routes. There are three major trekking routes in this region: to Muktinath, to Annapurna Conservation Area Project, and a circuit of the Annapurna Himal itself. Pokhara is a good starting place for short treks of one to four days, including the ‘Royal’, trek, which is described here. Mustang is also geographically a part of the Annapurna Region, but because treks to Mustang are subject to special restrictions, this is described it in the separate page on restricted area treks. Annapurna Region become one of popular place for trekking beside Himalayan Range. The area is easily accessible, hotels in the hills are plentiful, and treks here offer good scenery of both high mountain and low land villages.
GHOREPANI-POON HILL TREK
The trek to Ghorepani-Poon Hill (Pun Hill) which is located in Annapurna Region, is truly called as all the best of the trekking in Nepal. The trek offers the spectacular mountain scenery along with charming villages inhabited particularly by the Gurungs and Magars, dense rhododendron forest full of birds and deep subtropical valleys, all set below the Annapurna with the picturesque peak of Machhapuchhare (Fishtail Peak) dominating the sky line. One of the important highlight of this trip is to make a climb on Poon Hill, possibly the most spectacular mountain scales on Earth. When sun rises, it touches the snow-capped summit of the Himalayan giants, Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna (8,091m) along with a maze of other peaks, there gradually appear, just like magic that your eye could not believe.

Arrive in Kathmandu. Upon arrive transfer to hotel. Free at leisure (Nirvana Garden Hotel / Tibet Guest House).
Breakfast at hotel. After breakfast transfer to airport and fly to Pokhara with guide by domestic flight. Upon arrive, transfer to Nayapul (about 1 hr 15 minutes drive). Meet trekking porters and start trek to hill. Three meals at lodge. About 5 hours walk (Hill Lodge).
Trek to Ghorepani. Three meals will be provided at lodge. About 6 hours walk. (Ghorepani Lodge).
Early morning excursion to Poon Hill. Enjoy the sunrise over Mt. Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapurchhe, Mt. Manaslu and the magnificent landscape of the Annapurna ranges (Tadapani Lodge).
Trek down to Napul. About 5 hours trek. Upon arrive transfer to Pokhara. (Hotel Meera).
Free day in Pokhara. Visit International Mountaineering Museum, Davis Fall and Fewa Lake. (Hotel Meera).
Transfer to airport and fly back to Kathmandu. Upon arrive, transfer back to hotel. (Nirvana Garden Hotel / Tibet Guest House).
Free day in Kathmandu visit places of interest by own. Lunch not included. Dinner host by us. (Nirvana Garden Hotel / Tibet Guest House).
Free until departure. Transfer to airport and fly back to Kuala Lumpur.
YOUR RUCKSACK IS TOO HEAVY?
All meals will be provided during trekking at lodge / tea house. Your porters will exhibit super human strength in getting all your belongings up the mountain and is a constant source of amazement to trekkers. Food will not become a problem while trekking in Nepal. Variety of food will be served range from Western menu to Asian noodles. The meals are excellence and will not become the main problem for high altitude sickness. Most trekkers will carry a small pack or day pack with personal items such as clothes, toiletries and photography gear. Keep the gear to a minimum and don’t take anything up the mountain that you don’t have to. Leave the rest to us!
